Donors’ conference to be called to appeal world community for help: Hoti

PESHAWAR, Aug 14: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has said that donors conference would be called and an appeal would be made to the world community to give a liberal helping hand to the flood-hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This he said while talking to reporters in Peshawar Police Line on the occasion of 14th August Independence Day ceremony. He said that the province has been badly hit by the flash floods and caused a loss of 200 billion rupees to the province while he termed the aid which the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has received from the federal government less than required.

He said that the damage caused by the flash floods turned out more lethal and catastrophic than terrorism while both the calamities plunged the province back into Stone Age. The Chief Minister hoisted national flag and prayed for the welfare of the flood-stricken poor masses. He said that the calamity was before the entire world while the provincial government had done all the possible efforts to rescue the stranded people while the rescue works have reached an end and the government has stepped forward for relief now.
He said that different surveys revealed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has suffered a loss of 200 billion rupees. Responding a question he said that the aid which the provincial government from the federal was too meager and added that within ten days Donors Conference would be convened and appealed to the world community to give a liberal helping hand to the flood-hit province. He said that the political parties should avoid politics on flood and should co-operate with the government in relief works. The Chief Minister said that they believe in peace and they have taken opposition leaders on board in peace accords to NFC awards while termed the boycott of opposition parties totally amateurish and incongruous.
He said that to deal with such natural calamity, the government needs support of the opposition so that collective efforts would be taken in order to provide quick relief to the flood affected people. He said the people badly waiting for the relief and the government is committed to take and utilize all resources while helping the needy one.
