Joint efforts hailed for relief of flood victims
ISLAMABAD, Aug 14: Minister for Minorities Affairs Shahbaz Bhatti has hailed the political leadership of the country for joining hands on Saturday to deal with the flood situation in the country.
The minister, while talking to APP said that “we all should come forward to meet the challenge due to flash floods and rainstorms”.
He said that it was a good decision to establish a body to raise funds for the rehabilitation of flood victims and displaced people.
He said that it was a great step taken by Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML N) leader Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif.
“It’s great that the two leaders expressed the resolve to work together for the rehabilitation of the flood affected people”.
However, he expressed deep shock and grief over the wide scale devastation that displaced around 20 million people and caused losses of billions.
