Shujaat briefs Chinese envoy on losses occurred due to flooding

ISLAMABAD, Aug 14: Chinese Ambassador Liu Jian called on PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain to express solidarity with the people of Pakistan in the critical time they were facing due to raging floods. PML-Q Punjab President Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Ch Wajahat Hussain MNA were also present on the occasion.

The envoy said Sino-Pak friendly ties were everlasting and China was the first country to announce assistance for Pakistan after the worst floods hit the country.
He said China would never leave its Pakistani friends in lurch and it had assisted Pakistan in the 2005 earthquake as well.
He also felicitated Pakistani people on the 64th Independence Day. He urged the international community to come forth and assist brave Pakistani people who were fighting the worst floods of the history which had done unprecedented damage to the people and infrastructure of Pakistan.
He said more assistance was needed as Pakistan would have to go for relief and rehabilitation phases once the rescue operations would be completed.
Chaudhry Shujaat briefed the Chinese ambassador on the devastation of the floods which most parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Southern Punjab while it was now hitting Sindh hard.
Ch Pervaiz Elahi also made a presentation on the damages occurred due to floods. He said almost entire infrastructure in Southern Punjab had been smashed due to worst flooding while human losses and food losses were countless.
