PTI finalizes 3 names for judges appointment committee
islamabad (Pakistan News) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has approved two names for the Judicial Commission including Omar Ayub and Syed Shibli Faraz.
This follows the PTI’s earlier submission of a seven-member list, including former commission members, which comprised Barrister Gohar, Barrister Ali Zafer, Barrister Umer Niazi, Omar Ayub, Asad Qaiser, Latif Khosa, and Ali Muhammad Khan.
Sources indicate that while the initial preference was for parliamentarians with legal expertise, this criterion was seemingly disregarded.
Omar Ayub (from the National Assembly) and Syed Shibli Faraz (from the Senate) were ultimately chosen. The PTI is expected to formally submit these names to the Speaker of the National Assembly and the Chairman of the Senate tomorrow.
The 13-member Judicial Commission will include two members each from the government and the opposition, as mandated by the 26th Amendment.
