man breaks engagement with fiancée over eating too much

Beijing (Pakistan News) A young man named Hi in China not only broke off the engagement after his fiancée ate too much,  also requested the court to order the return of gifts and expenses.

According to the details, this unique incident took place in the court of the young man from the Chinese province of Heilongjiang, who claimed that his fiancée Wang ate too much, which damaged his family business and he was very unhappy with this behavior.

In the court, Wang argued that she was his girlfriend, not an employee, and gifts given during a relationship are not taken back, to which the court agreed with Wang’s position and ruled that the demand for the return of personal expenses was not valid. However, since the two were not married, the court ordered the return of half of the engagement money.

Hi and Wang met through a matchmaker, they liked each other and got engaged. According to local tradition, Hi’s family paid Wang’s family 20,000 yuan as a dowry. The two later moved to Hebei Province in northern China, where Hi’s family owned a Malatang restaurant, a popular Chinese street food. Wang worked at the restaurant for about six months, but their relationship began to strain.

Hi said that after moving to the restaurant, Wang’s behavior changed, she would only do simple tasks and eat the food prepared for customers herself every day, which affected both the business and the family.

The growing disagreement over food eventually led to the end of the engagement. Hi then filed a petition in court, demanding the return of the engagement money plus an additional 30,000 yuan, which hi said he had spent on Wang during the relationship, including clothes and other personal items.
