Order to make rules and regulations to prevent illegal mobile SIMs
Lahore (Pakistan News Online) Lahore High Court has ordered the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to make rules and regulations to prevent illegal mobile SIMs.
According to private TV channel Dunya News, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh made these remarks during the hearing of the post-arrest bail application of accused Muhammad Usman in the case of selling illegal SIMs.
On the court order, DG PTA, Director Legal PTA and other officers appeared in the court, while lawyer Khadim Hussain appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner. The petitioner’s lawyer took the position that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) registered a case contrary to the facts, the accused has been in jail since his arrest and bail is his legal right, so post-arrest bail should be granted.
During the hearing, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh remarked that the country has been facing terrorism and the nation has made great sacrifices, lest illegal SIMs be used in terrorism. Suggestions were also presented in the court regarding the prevention of illegal SIMs.
The court ordered the PTA to take effective measures and rules to prevent illegal SIMs and adjourned the hearing till Monday. Its important to mention here that The NCCIA has registered a case against the accused.
