Human-Centered AI Lab to Be Inaugurated at Punjab University on October 7
Lahore (Pakistan News Online) The Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, Punjab University, will be inaugurated on October 7.
The laboratory has been established through collaboration between the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), Türkiye’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and Punjab University.
A high-level Turkish delegation will attend the inauguration ceremony. TIKA Vice President Ali Erjann, Punjab University Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahmood Saleem, and other officials will also be present.
According to the event schedule, the arrival of distinguished guests will be followed by refreshments from 12:00 pm to 12:20 pm.
The formal ceremony will begin with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Pro Vice Chancellor University of Punjab Professor Dr. Mahmood Saleem will deliver a welcome address at 12:30 pm in honour of the distinguished guests.
The ceremony will also include a briefing on the establishment of the Human-Centered AI Laboratory, its previous activities, and future plans.
The laboratory will be equipped with modern computing and server facilities, providing a platform for researchers, faculty members and students from Pakistan and Türkiye to undertake joint research and academic activities.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, commemorative gifts will be presented to the Turkish delegation. The event will conclude with a group photograph, after which the delegation will depart.
Punjab University and Türkiye’s Yildiz Technical University have also signed an agreement to promote academic and research cooperation in the field of Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence.
Under the agreement, the two universities will promote joint research projects, student and faculty exchanges, postgraduate research and the exchange of academic resources.
The agreement sets targets for more than 10 joint research papers, at least five externally funded joint projects, and support for more than 20 MPhil and PhD research papers over the next five years.
Yildiz Technical University will also facilitate the exchange of educational materials, research resources and teaching expertise related to Human-Centered AI, besides supporting the preparation of Punjab University faculty members teaching AI-related courses.
The collaboration is aimed at strengthening research and academic cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye in the field of Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence.
