Lahore to File Cases, Not Challans, for Major Traffic Violations

Lahore (Pakistan News) The Lahore Police has decided to initiate the strictest possible legal action against individuals involved in serious traffic violations. For various grave offenses, formal First Information Reports (FIRs) will now be registered instead of merely issuing traffic challans (fines).

According to CTO Lahore, Syed Abdul Rahim Sherazi, individuals found illegally using police-style flasher lights, blue lights, or green number plates will face the registration of a criminal case rather than a simple challan.

Furthermore, FIRs will be registered for violations such as driving against the flow of traffic (one-way violations), as well as concealing, altering, or obscuring vehicle number plates to hide identity.

A spokesperson for the Traffic Police added that those who block roads, engage in speeding, perform dangerous “zig-zag” driving or drifting, or operate vehicles with gross negligence and recklessness will also face the registration of criminal cases instead of just receiving challans.

The CTO Lahore emphasized that a “zero-tolerance” policy is being adopted against driving behaviors that endanger human lives or involve reckless hooliganism; all such individuals will be subjected to formal legal proceedings.
