“Shaam‑e‑December”: A Graceful Literary Evening Held in Riyadh Under the Banner of Aalami Halqa‑e‑Fikr‑o‑Fun
Riyadh – A distinguished literary and poetic gathering titled Shaam‑e‑December was organized in Riyadh under the auspices of the renowned representative literary body of Pakistani writers in Saudi Arabia, Aalami Halqa‑e‑Fikr‑o‑Fun. The event drew a large number of literature enthusiasts and the atmosphere remained enriched with poetic expression, intellectual discourse, and cultural vibrance.
The session was presided over by noted poet and writer Syed Tayyab Raza Kazmi, who, in his presidential address, said that the mushaira is an essential part of our cultural heritage and a powerful medium of knowledge and enlightenment. He added that such gatherings promote intellectual growth and encourage positive literary trends within society.
President of Aalami Halqa‑e‑Fikr‑o‑Fun, Waqar Naseem Wamiq, stated in his address that poetic sittings and mushairas not only introduce new dimensions of poetry but also play a vital role in guiding and nurturing the younger generation. He emphasized that the mission of Fikr‑o‑Fun is to promote Pakistani literature abroad in an organized and dignified manner.
The distinguished guests of the evening renowned poet Shuja‑uz‑Zaman Shad from Karachi and social leader Aziz‑ur‑Rehman Mujahid from Islamabad praised the work of young poets, noting the maturity and intellectual depth evident in the poetry of overseas Pakistanis. They commended the literary services of Aalami Halqa‑e‑Fikr‑o‑Fun, calling it one of the finest representative platforms for Pakistani literature abroad.
Guest of Honour, poet Muzammil Banday from Tabuk, appreciated the literary initiatives of the organization, expressing his delight that Fikr‑o‑Fun is playing a prominent role in promoting poetry and literature overseas particularly in Saudi Arabia while providing a strong platform for both senior and emerging poets.
Earlier, Vice Chairman Adnan Iqbal Butt and Convener Makhdoom Amin Tajir also addressed the audience, highlighting the organization’s ongoing literary activities and upcoming programs.
The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by Malik Ishtiaq Heera, followed by a soulful naat presented by Taimoor Nawaz.
During the gathering, Deputy Secretary General of Fikr‑o‑Fun and young poet Kamran Hassani presented his poetry collection Gul‑e‑Taaza as a special gift to Shuja‑uz‑Zaman Shad, Aziz‑ur‑Rehman Mujahid, and Muzammil Banday.
Poets of Fikr‑o‑Funn including Prof. Sajid Mahmood, Muzammil Banday, Kamran Hassani, Uneeb Arshad, Zawwaq Ali Zaki, Muhammad Zareen Majboor, Waqar Naseem Wamiq, Shuja‑uz‑Zaman Khan Shad, Syed Tayyab Raza Kazmi And others, captivated the audience with their unique and compelling verses.
