Sana Yousaf case, Omar Hayat sentenced to death

Islamabad (Pakistan News) A local court has sentenced Omar Hayat, the convict in the murd*r case of social media influencer Sana Yousaf, to death. The court announced the verdict in the case in the presence of the convict Omar Hayat.

According to the details, a District and Sessions Court in Islamabad also ordered Omar Hayat to pay Rs 2 million as compensation to the family of the victim. In addition, Omar Hayat was sentenced to a total of 21 years of rigorous imprisonment under several sections, including the crime of robbery at Sana Yousuf’s house.

According to the court order, the convict has also been fined another Rs 500,000 under other sections.

According to court records, in addition to the murder weapon, the police also claimed to have recovered Sana Yousuf’s iPhone from the accused, which was considered important evidence in the case. The prosecution also recorded the statements of two eyewitnesses in court, including Sana Yousuf’s mother and aunt.

During the final arguments in Judge Afzal Majuka’s court, the prosecution requested the death penalty for the accused during the court hearing, while the accused’s lawyer demanded that “the decision not be made out of fear that NGOs will take to the streets.”
