Lahore (Pakistan News ) A joyful wedding ceremony was held at Alkhidmat Foundation’s tent village in Chohang, established for families affected by floods. The couple, Ali Raza and Tayyaba Riaz, entered into matrimony in a simple yet graceful gathering. The bride, Tayyaba Riaz, has been serving as a teacher at the tent school set up for children in the settlement.

President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, Professor Dr Hafeez ur Rehman, extended his congratulations and best wishes to both families. He stated, “Alkhidmat has been providing essential services to flood survivors, including shelter, food, healthcare and education. When these families expressed their desire for a wedding, Alkhidmat lovingly assumed full responsibility and made complete arrangements.”

As part of the support, the bride was provided with a wedding box, new clothes, footwear and essential household items, while special dining arrangements were made for the guests.

The ceremony was attended by Alkhidmat officials, including Shoaib Hashmi, Saba Saqib, Samia Salman and Abdullah Mohsin, as well as volunteers, teachers, students, parents, local residents and inhabitants of the tent village.

Children decorated the white tents with colourful adornments, transforming the settlement into a festive space, while volunteers conducted all wedding rituals with simplicity, affection and respect. The atmosphere echoed with celebratory melodies, and every face reflected joy.

Speaking emotionally, the bride’s father said, “The floods destroyed our homes, and in those difficult times, Alkhidmat became a beacon of hope for us. My daughter was teaching the children here, the proposal was finalised, and Alkhidmat took charge of the entire wedding. This is a great blessing for our family.”

Participants described the ceremony as a shining example of how love, relationships and hope can be sustained even in hardship. They said such initiatives not only support affected families but also send an encouraging message to society.
