After PIA, Arif Habib is reportedly ready to invest in blue economy
Karachi (Pakistan News) After Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), famous businessman Arif Habib has now reportedly focused on investing in the blue economy.
According to a private media organization (BR), businessman Arif Habib had an important meeting with the management of the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation.
The main objective of investing in this sector is to play a role in the country’s development by making better use of Pakistan’s marine resources.
While presenting the PIA revival roadmap, Arif Habib said that all 34 aircraft will be operational by September 2026. Currently, only 17 are operational.
He further said that out of the purchase price of Rs 135 billion, Rs 125 billion will be directly invested in PIA for the purchase of new engines and expansion.
He said that more experts will also be added for the expansion of PIA, while all recruitments will be on merit.
The privatization of PIA is a major milestone in the country’s broader economic reform agenda, as well as a significant step towards reducing the government deficit and improving the economy. Reforms and investments in the blue economy sector are essential for improving the economy. Innovation and better utilization of this sector will create significant employment opportunities.
