Ali Amin Gandapur’s Reappointment as Chief Minister? lobbying started in PTI groups
Peshawar (Pakistan News Online) various factions within the PTI have become active regarding the selection of a new Chief Minister (CM) for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), with one group initiating lobbying efforts to see Ali Amin Gandapur reinstated as the province’s chief executive.
According to the private television channel ‘Geo News,’ sources indicate that activities within the PTI concerning the selection of a new Chief Minister for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have intensified. There is a difference of opinion among several key central PTI leaders and Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs) regarding the matter.
While some prominent central leaders favor appointing a Chief Minister from the Buner or Hazara regions, more than 30 assembly members are actively advocating for Ali Amin Gandapur to return to the position. However, it is noted that any selection made without consultation with the PTI founder would be considered temporary.
Sources further stated that until a meeting with the PTI founder takes place, the individual selected by the parliamentary party will serve as the Chief Minister. A majority of the PTI members have even established a separate WhatsApp group to discuss this issue.
Meanwhile, PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa spokesperson Shaukat Yousafzai stated that no final decision has been reached regarding the new Chief Minister. He added that if Sohail Afridi be disqualified? the party leadership will decide on a successor through consultation.
Notably, the parliamentary party had previously proposed Ali Amin Gandapur’s name to represent the province. He stated that there is no factionalism within the PTI; the assembly members created a WhatsApp group to maintain communication among themselves.
